Hello my name is Eli. I am a blind double dapple dachshund. I was born blind because of irresponsible breeding, which unfortunately is not at all uncommon in double dapple dachshunds.

You see life gave me a challenge that some would say is a lemon.  I have made lemonade out of it.   It only took me a day at my foster home to map out the area and I was off and running in the backyard. I love people and other dogs.  My favorite thing is to sit in your lap and snuggle up to my human so I can give doggie kisses.  I love to run in the backyard and explore with my foster siblings.  I am crate trained and tell you when I need to go outside.  My foster mom marvels at how adaptable I can be. I need a quiet home with a fenced backyard, a buddy to keep me company and lots of soft beds, yummy treats, and someone who will allow me to love them.

Note: Because I am a special needs doxie I am looking for a forever family within 75 miles of the Metropolitan Baltimore DC Area. An exception would be made if you have experience with double-dapple or blind doxies and are willing to drive to Maryland to pick me up.

If you want to know more about me please contact my foster mom Saundra at saundramag@aol.com

Adoption Fee:  $275.00 + $45.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $135 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.

Transportation Help

If you see a furbaby that is a match for your family, don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
