This little man was right at home day one. I am told he is an elderly guy but he is up for anything you want to do. He loves walks, loves running through the leaves and is also a serious lap dog. He needs a soft diet as most of his teeth were removed shortly after arriving here. He sleeps in his bed near us and is quiet all night. He would be fine for an apartment as he is a homebody and we have never been concerned about him running away. We have a huge yard that he could explore but he prefers to be with people. He has gotten along with the other dogs we meet on our walks. Don't know about cats!! He was fine with my 10 year old grandson but we have not had him around younger children.

Update: Ajax has been staying at another foster home for the holidays and has found out that he gets along well with other dachshunds, a few chihuahua mixes and two bigger dogs. He recently noticed there is a cat in the house but doesn't seem too interested in him. He has also been GREAT with a very curious and hands on one year old boy. He has been eating, sleeping and going potty outside well since the moment he got here. He has enjoyed being on our laps, lying in his bed or on the big bed, and playing with the younger pups.

Adoption Fee:  $150.00 + $45.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $135 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses. This fee is non refundable if dog is returned. Fill out an adoption application http://littlepawsdachshundrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form_humanverify?formid=2724 TRANSPORTATION HELP! If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
