Hi! My name is Carter. I am 9 months old. My dad is a black and tan/dapple dachshund. Mom is a Shih Tzu. As you can see from my photos, I have black and grey/dapple fur that is wonderfully soft. To keep me this handsome, I need to be groomed regularly. I’m learning what it is like to live in a house and have a human family that loves me. I’m not house trained and when I understand what backyards and walks are for, I am sure that I will catch on quickly. I am cautious with people and dogs I don’t know. Surprisingly though, I find kittens to be kind of fun. They like to snuggle with me and I find their purring to be rather calming.
I am crate trained, but I really love sleeping in a human bed with my foster sisters. So far, I have not found it necessary to be food aggressive. In fact, I tend to get pushed out of my bowl by other dogs. I am a very happy puppy with a moderate energy level. I’m not too sure what to do with toys yet. I’m still figuring out what play is all about. I am devoted to my foster mom. I follow her around wherever she goes. I like to sit on her lap and cuddle and give kisses. When I feel a bit more confident, I know that I will want to snuggle with everyone. I’m just that kind of guy.

For more information about me please contact my foster mom Susan at sajd2@verizon.net

Adoption Fee:  $350.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.

Transportation Help

If you see a furbaby that is a match for your family, don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
