Hi my name is Louie!
I am a neutered black, tan silver dapple dachshund. I lived a good portion of my life in a dark and damp basement with several other dachshunds like me. Despite my not so great start in life, I long for human companionship!
I am a very affectionate and happy boy! I love being with people, especially my foster mom and dad. I love greeting foster mommy with giant hugs when she comes home! I also love sleeping in the big bed! During the day and evening when my foster humans are awake and home you will find me curled up in one of the beds in the kitchen with one of my other foster siblings. Sometimes I am in a bed with one or sometimes I am just in a bed next to theirs. Based on my past experiences, I would do best with older, respectful children or with a person (or couple) that wants to lavish me with love. I wouldn't mind a doggy companion if they are laid back, but I would also be OK being an only dog.
I am definitely not a fan of the crate or being locked in a room so please do not put me in one. This is due mainly to me being kept shut in a basement for all that time. I am a good boy who does not chew or destroy anything in your home as long as I am allowed to walk around and sleep in a dog bed. I am also house trained for the most part. I have an occasional accident here or there, like when it is cold and rainy out, but hey I am a dachshund!
I am up to date on all my shots, had a dental a few months ago, and am microchipped.
If you are looking for a companion I am your guy! And as an added bonus I am super cute!!!
For additional information please contact my foster mom Christine (niccar14@yahoo.com)

Adoption Fee: $275.00 + $45.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law). Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $145 non refundable fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.
Transportation Help
If you see a furbaby that is a match for your family, don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
