Woof! I’m Riley!  I am an 11 year old (DOB 05/18/06) totally adorable smooth black and tan dachshund. My foster mom told me I was found walking down a country road in South Carolina.

I walk nicely on a leash. I don’t need be crated because (1) I am house trained and (2) I don't chew on things.  I sleep in dog beds, on the kitchen mat and in the big bed. I sleep soundly, and stay very still, so please don’t startle me to wake me up.  I love to be outside and if you’re out in the yard, I’ll be close by.  

I have a foster brother and two sisters. We all get along great, and are respectful of each other’s space. We are fed at different feed stations so we all have our own space.  My foster mom does not have cats so I don't know how I would react to them. 

I know the basic commands, and respond well to a gentle tone of voice. I'm looking for a forever home where it is quiet without loud noises or drama, where I can go for walks, or just snuggle on the couch watching TV.

If you are looking for a dog who enjoys walks, spending time in the yard, likes to cuddle, and who wants to become a member of your family, then I’m your guy. 

Note: Because Riley had a rough time being transported after he was rescued he must be adopted within 75 miles of Alexandria, VA and by someone willing to drive to Alexandria to pick him up.
