Hi!  My name is Mocha.  I’m a 4-year old chocolate, long-haired dachshund weighing in at 12 lbs. I was recently spayed, had a dental cleaning and am totally up to date on my vaccinations. I have great house manners and enjoy going for quick outings with my doxie friends. 

I came into rescue from a retired breeder and unfortunately have had very minimum physical contact with people. I had no idea what to expect (or what was expected of me) when I arrived at my foster home. I never learn to trust, to love, or to play. My life wasn’t unpleasant but it is the only life I have ever known.  

I am very submissive and easily spooked by quick movements and loud noises. I’m getting braver every day. I continue to make baby-step progress but I will need a forever family with lots of patience, understanding, love, and probably most importantly, unconditional acceptance of what my limitations may be.

I’ve lived with other dachshunds all my life so I need to live with another small dog. I enjoy small amounts of affection from my foster mom, but I am not ready to come to people I do not know.  I let my foster mom pick me up but she always talks to me and lets me know what she is doing.  If you can find room in your home and heart for me, please contact my foster mom Sabine at SabineWilson@msn.com. Please note:   Mocha has been with Little Paws Dachshund Resuce since 9/8/2018. During that time, we’ve come to understand her personality, her likes and her fears. As Mocha’s advocates, we want to ensure that she is paired with the right adopter(s). Based on our assessment, here are the characteristics of the ideal adopter: someone who works from home or is home most of the day, a home where the predominant caregiver is female (as Mocha has an extreme fear of men),  must have a small companion dog and a securely fenced back yard (no chain link fences). Mocha must be adopted by someone willing to drive to her foster home to meet her and adopt her. She is fostered in Chester, Maryland.  

The adoption fee for Mocha is $300. If Mocha is adopted over a state line there will be a $45.00 charge for a health certificate (required by law).
