Hi! My name is Carmen and I am the most beautiful girl in the world according to my foster mom. She says I’m the perfect mix of class, sass and beauty! I love to have a nice quiet place of my own to snuggle up in some fluffy blankets and take a nap. I also love to sleep in the big people bed snuggled up close to my people under the covers at night but I understand if you’d rather me sleep in my own bed. I don’t complain either way! My foster mom says I’m a rare dachshund that doesn’t chew or destroy things. Apparently, that’s hard to find! I have a very gentle disposition and am slow to trust but once I do trust someone, I adore them. I get along with everyone. I enjoy cuddles with my dog friends and my kitty friends. I would rather not be on a leash because I’m a retired breeder dog and never really had to use one before. I am practicing wearing a harness and leash and my foster mom says I show promise to one day be comfortable on one but I’ll need to keep working to build on my confidence. I need someone who understands that I have had a hard life before LPDR saved me and that at first, I’m standoffish but once I come around, I’ll make the perfect forever friend for whoever is lucky enough to adopt me. 

***Carmen will need an adopter who is patient and willing to give her time to adjust. She seems to prefer women and will do best in a calm environment. Needs a fenced in yard and at least one other dog in the home. She is only adoptable within a 4 hour drive from Columbia, SC.
