Meet Oscar, a mini red smooth male dachshund. Turning two in December, this 10-lb lovebug arrived under the care of Little Paws Dachshund Rescue because his former family was not in a position to keep him anymore.
He must have lived a life of pure love because Oscar gets along with everyone; he is very friendly with people and expresses his excitement towards meeting other dogs with his enthusiastic barks. Never is he not wagging his tail. He will as easily go on a 3-mile hike as he will lazily lounge on the couch with you.
Oscar came to us slightly underweight but that will quickly change as he has both a voracious appetite and a very skilled nose. Forget swiffering because he will vacuum everything in sight. He picks up on tricks quickly since he is so food motivated (he can currently hop on his two hind legs and twirl around).
He’s adjusting nicely to his crate but like every dog, he prefers to sprawl out in the big bed with you. He walks exceptionally well on a leash— in fact, he has his signature “trot” that comes out when he’s out and about. This handsome fellow is housetrained but is getting a crash course to adjust to his foster’s schedule.

The adoption fee for Oscar is $325 If he is adopted over the Washington DC state line there will be a $45.00 charge for a health certificate (required by law). If he is adopted in New England there is an additional $150 fee to cover regulatory requirements
Transportation Help
If you see a furbaby that is a match for your family, don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
