Hi, my name was Tucker for most of my life, but I have recently adapted to the name Louie that was given to me when I was taken into LPDR not too long ago. I weigh about 12 pounds and I just turned SEVEN in September! I just recently moved in with my new foster dad, and I get along well with my foster brother, but my foster sister thinks she has to show me who is boss all the time (I let her think it is her, shh), so we haven’t really bonded quite yet. I am house trained and crate trained, and I LOVE going outside and barking at animals and people through the fence with my foster sister (yes, we get along when we are barking at something, and when we walk on a leash next to each other). I love to run around the backyard, but my previous foster mom said that I am an escape artist with the proper motivation, so there probably shouldn’t be any gaps whatsoever in the backyard fence. My new foster dad has to work full days sometimes, but I do very well in my crate and love it even more when he throws treats in there for me. I absolutely LOVE attention and affection, and often find myself rolling over my foster siblings to get to my foster dad. I also LOVE sleeping in the big bed. I start off right next to my foster dad, but usually burrow under a blanket by myself as the night goes on. I am really shy at first, so it might take a day or two for me to warm completely up to you, but it’s all tail wags and kisses after that. Although I have never been around small children, my foster dad does not think I would be good with small or high-energy children. I would do best in a home with only adult males, as my foster dad thinks I was probably mistreated by an adult woman in my first home. I can’t seem to get completely comfortable around them now. I have seen cats on my walks in the neighborhood and have reacted to them so it would be best if I didn’t live with them in the same house.
For more info please contact my foster dad at : todd.anderson@uncp.edu Fill out an adoption application http://littlepawsdachshundrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form_humanverify?formid=2724 Adoption Fee: $275.00 + $45.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law). Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $150 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses. TRANSPORTATION HELP! If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
