*PLEASE READ ALL REQUIREMENTS FOR HERSHEY BEFORE APPLYING TO ADOPT. HERSHEY REQUIRES A FENCED IN YARD. HE WILL NEED A COMPANION ANIMAL AND WOULD PROBABLY LOVE A FEMALE. HERSHEY WILL BE ADOPTABLE IN VIRGINIA AND SOUTHERN STATES ONLY HE'S COLD SENSITIVE AND NEEDS A WARMER CLIMATE. HERSHEY CAN NOT DO STEPS SO HE WOULD DO BEST LIVING WITH SOMEONE WHO IS WILLING TO CARRY HIM OR IN A HOME WITH NO OR VERY FEW STEPS. HERSHEY CAN NOT BE ADOPTED TO A HOME WITH YOUNG CHILDREN OR CATS*

Hershey is a sweet, loving, smooth coat miniature dachshund. He sadly came to the rescue after losing his bonded female partner, so he needs a companion dog to heal his heart in his forever home. He would probably love anyone, but I'm sure he's hoping for a lady love.  He loves to snooze in his dog bed next to his favorite person all day and then snuggle up to them in the big bed at night. He has a gentle disposition and can be timid at first, but once he warms up to you, he will be your best friend. Hershey gets along with all adults and well-behaved dogs who are not too energetic. He would do well in a home with an older couple or single person and no children. He would rather not be on his own too much because he gets lonely. Someone who is retired or works from home would be ideal.  Hershey is a happy boy who enjoys blankets, a soft bed, snuggles, and treats.

Hershey needed a little brush up on potty training when he first came into rescue, and he occasionally has accidents if he gets anxious. He does not mind wearing a belly band and needs an adopter who is willing to continue his potty training and keep him on a regular schedule. Hershey can NOT do steps and will require ramps in his forever home. He is very cold averse, so he needs to stay a southern gentleman.

If you have room in your home and heart for Hershey and would like additional information about him, please contact his foster mom Larissa at   curligal86@gmail.com

You can find the adoption application at: http://littlepawsdachshundrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form_humanverify?formid=2724  The adoption fee for Hershey is $275. If I am adopted over a state line, there will be a $45.00 charge for a health certificate (required by law).  TRANSPORTATION HELP! If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
