Hi There, My name is Amitabh. I know.... you're saying to yourself that's a really unique name. Well, it means eternal joy & splendor, and that's what you will get if you adopt me.

My foster Mom says I’m a handsome guy! I love to be near my humans.  I am fully crate trained and prefer to be in there when my humans are away from home and at bedtime.  I get along well with other dogs; I'm leash trained and enjoy daily walks!  My other favorite activity is chewing on hard bones/toys to clean my teeth! 

I also, in typical dachshund fashion, love pulling all the stuffing and the squeakers out of all my other toys! Hehe.  I can be a little protective of my humans and dog-pals when meeting new people.  But once I know you’re ok, I’m fine.  Therefore, I prefer a home without children or with very respectful older considerate kids.  I’ve been trained from early on not to use steps, and I will not use them, so I will need to be carried up and down them.  My foster mom carries me down to the backyard to do my business, and I let her know with my authoritative bark when I’m ready to be carried back in!  Although I’m 11, soon to be 12 years old, I am pretty high energy and still love to play, get out and about and enjoy car rides. I will be the perfect companion for another senior who is active like me and wants someone to walk, play and snuggle with.

The adoption fee for Amitabh is $150. In addition, if Amitabh is adopted over a state line, there will be a $45.00 charge for a health certificate (required by law). Transportation Help: If you see a fur baby that is a match for your family, don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to transport the dog to you.
