Things to know about Lilly:

  • Deaf Double Dapple
  • Requires a home with no children
  • Must be adopted within 100 miles of Frederick, MD

Lilly is an 11-year-old deaf smooth double dapple dachshund. She came to rescue extremely overweight (20+ lbs), but by following the Biggest Loser diet now weighs about 12 pounds. Lilly is house trained when kept on a routine. She is always carried outside into a fenced backyard and returns to the back door by herself. Lilly is currently living in a foster home with a fenced backyard, but she does not need a fenced yard. She can be allowed to wander around on a leash. Lilly lives happily with six senior dachshunds in her foster home. She has not met any large dogs or cats. Lilly is happy to stay at home alone. However, she’s a big couch potato and would much prefer to have at least one person at home most of the time to keep her company.

Lilly is deaf and therefore cannot be placed in a home with children. She becomes extremely distraught when new people (aka strangers) come into her house and will bark non-stop if she can see the visitors. Unfortunately, it takes her a long time to accept new people. Lilly also gets very anxious on road-trips and for this reason she must be adopted within 100 miles of Frederick, MD.

Lilly takes medication daily. She takes medication to help reduce skin inflammation which is common with double dapple dachshunds, and she also takes an eye medication to help with dry eye also common with double dapple dachshunds.

When we asked her foster mom what she likes most about Lilly, she said that she finds it so endearing to see her pack of six senior dachshunds and Lilly all cuddled up together in their dog beds.

Lilly is currently living in Frederick, MD with her foster mom Beth. For additional information, please contact her at  bethmittleman@icloud.com . If you would like to adopt Lilly, please complete an adoption application form by clicking on

The adoption fee for Lilly is $200. If she is adopted over a state  line,  there will be an additional charge for a health certificate (required by law) of anywhere between $45.00 and $100.00. The amount depends upon what the veterinarian charges LPDR.
