HERSHEY WOULD QUALIFY FOR OUR SENIOR TO SENIOR ADOPTION PLAN. LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE A SENIOR 65 AND UP AND HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH AN IVDD DOG!
Meet handsome Hershey; he has the absolute BEST personality. Your heart will skip a beat when you meet him. He is a sweet and loving 12-year-old boy who can get anxious when he doesn't have his person around. Since he has separation anxiety, he'll need an adopter who is home a lot. Due to some allergies, Hershey takes daily allergy medication Apoquel and eats Open Farm Salmon food.
Hershey will need an adopter within 4 hours of his foster home in Lexington, South Carolina, because he does not like car rides - he will whine and pant and shake the entire ride. Hershey is an IVDD survivor, having lost the ability to use his hind legs and bladder control since age 4.
He currently needs his bladder expressed. He wears a diaper at night and when left alone. He has been on a weight loss journey since coming in as a foster, and he is recommended to lose another 3-4 pounds to be at a healthy weight for his size (he currently weighs 17lbs). Hershey gets along with children and all dogs. While Hershey will come with a cart, he doesn't prefer to use it.
Hershey is your little shadow. He wants to keep an eye on his person. So if you are interested in a dog who will make you the apple of their eye and revolve their world around you, Hershey is your guy!

The adoption fee for each boy is $200.00. If he is adopted over a state line, there will be a $45.00 charge for a health certificate (required by law).
Transportation Help: If you see a furbaby that is a match for your family, don't let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation.
