Bear is a big, beautiful girl who weighs in at roughly 29 pounds and is a 2-year-old dachshund mix. She’s an energetic dog looking for a family that will keep her active, with another dog in the house to play with and release some of that young dog energy. She’s sweet, funny, and an all-round good girl. When she’s done zooming for the day, Bear loves to cuddle up close and have a nice long snuggle.
Environment & Training
Bear is house trained, but it is important to make sure that she finishes her potty business outside before bringing her inside. Sometimes she will complete the job inside the house. She is crate trained, but she would much prefer to be allowed free reign when no one is home. Bear enjoys going for walks on a leash around her neighborhood, but she needs a little ongoing training to control her urge to pull. Bear loves car rides and is always ready to hop in and hit the road. Bear is not a vocal dog and should be fine living in a home with shared walls.
People & Pets
Bear loves people. Although she can be a bit timid when she meets strangers, once she gets comfortable she enjoys pets and attention. She hasn’t met any children, but her foster thinks that she will get along with respectful kids. More than people, she loves other dogs and loves to play.
Health
Bear completed heartworm treatment while in foster care and but she will need to be retested in her forever home.
