Bonded with Coral (her daughter); must be adopted together
Flight risk
No young children
Ocean is a healthy and happy 5-year-old dachshund mix with a short brindle coat. She weighs about 20 pounds. She has lived with her daughter since she was born. The pair is bonded and inseparable. Ocean must be adopted together with Coral.
Ocean is house trained provided she gets taken outside regularly. Locked crates are not for her. She has learned a few of Houdini’s tricks and is a crate escape artist. She will sleep in one, but much prefers to cuddle up with her humans in the big bed.
Ocean came to LPDR from a hoarding situation that no dog should ever have to experience. Nevertheless, she remains upbeat and is a true fighter. She gets nervous and hides when strange people enter her home, but warms up when she learns that they are kind. Ocean especially loves women and does well with most anyone from teenagers and above. She would much prefer a home with at least one person at home most of the time to keep her company. She’s happy to fit into an active or more slow paced household.
Ocean enjoys the company of other dogs. We don’t know how she feels about cats, but squirrels are definitely her arch enemies. Ocean likes exploring her backyard. However, due to her past living situation, she is unsure of boundaries and will just wander off following her nose. She will need a secure fence if she has a yard in her new home. Ocean isn’t a big barker and would be fine living in an apartment, townhouse, or single family dwelling.
Ocean enjoys walks in her neighborhood on her leash. She has got leash walking all figured out. Ocean is always ready for a car ride. She is happy to travel wherever her family wants to take her.
When we asked her foster mom what she likes most about Ocean, she said that Ocean is a total love bug. She gives out kisses and cuddles freely and is incredibly loyal to her human.
Ocean is currently living in Columbia, SC with her foster mom Bethany. Please email her at
