Things to know about Lucy:

  Needs a playful doggie buddy.

Lucy is a super cute 6-month-old dachshund mix with a short chocolate and white coat and weighs about 11 pounds. She has a wonderful sunny personality. She’s affectionate, loyal, gentle, always happy, and loves to play. When we asked her foster mom what she likes most about Lucy, she said that she adores her because she is the sweetest and most loving puppy.

Lucy is working on house training and uses pee pads. She need to have someone at home often or someone who can take her outside for potty breaks and exercise periodically throughout the day so she can get on a good potty schedule. Lucy is crate trained but she is not fond of spending time alone.

Lucy will be fine living in any type of home including a townhouse or apartment.

She enjoys running zoomies around her foster’s backyard. She would love to have a securely fenced yard or dog park to explore. Lucy has not had much experience walking on leash and even in her young age has exhibited reactivity when being leash walked. She will bark at other people and dogs while on walks and we highly recommend training so that she can become a good walking companion. She is always happy to accompany her humans in the car and is eager to travel far and wide.

Lucy likes humans and after one bark does well with strangers that enter her home or that she meets on walks. Although her foster mom has not observed Lucy interacting with children, she is such a sweet girl that it is likely that she will enjoy the company of respectful children who are kind and gentle. Lucy likes dogs of all ages and sizes and needs to live in a home with another dog or dogs. Since she is a puppy, she would love a dog to match her energy level. She does fine with cats in the house.

Lucy is currently living in West Haven, CT with her foster mom Joanne. For additional information, please contact her at joanne_white@ymail.com . If you would like to adopt Lucy, please complete an adoption application form by clicking on https://www.littlepawsdr.org/adoption/adoption-applications/ .

The adoption fee for Lucy is $400.00. If the dog is adopted over a state  line,  there will be an additional charge for a health certificate (required by law) of anywhere between $45.00 and $100.00. The amount depends upon what the veterinarian charges LPDR.

Transportation Help: If you see a dog that is a match for your family a LPDR volunteer transport may be arranged to bring the dog to you. However, some of our dogs have distance restrictions and need to be adopted within a specific number of miles from their foster homes. We ll inform you if the dog you ve applied for is not able to travel long distances by car. A paid transport can also be arranged for any dog that does not have travel restrictions.
