Oliver is a handsome 8-year-old dachshund with a short black and tan coat. He weighs approximately 18 pounds and will need an adopter who will continue to help him to lose a few more pounds. Oliver loves to snuggle under a blanket. But, as soon as he hears the Geico Gecko on TV, he pops his head out to give him a piece of his mind. Oliver is very affectionate and wants to be near his human almost all the time. He loves sitting on laps and being carried around. He is bonded with Salida and the two dogs must be adopted together. Oliver is house trained. From time-to-time he may have an accident inside and needs to have a home in which someone can be there to let him outside for potty breaks every 3 to 4 hours and before and after meals. Oliver is crate trained and does well when left for a few hours.
Oliver likes going for walks on his leash around the neighborhood and scoping things out in the backyard. He has a high prey drive and needs to be supervised outside where there are small animals. Oliver is always happy to go in the car and travel wherever his humans want to go.
Oliver likes humans including strangers who give him lots of attention. He is good with respectful children and he gets along with the other dogs in his foster home. Oliver is not a vocal dog. He usually only barks when instigated by another dog or when he sees something he doesn’t like on TV. He will be fine living in a home with shared walls including apartments and townhouses.
When we asked his foster mom what she likes most about Oliver, she said that she loves how his tail never stops wagging. He’s such a sweet and happy guy. Oliver is currently living in Canton, MA with his foster mom Olivia. For additional information, please contact her at otedesco25@gmail.com. The adoption fee for Oliver and Salida is $475.00. If the dogs are adopted over a state line, there will be an additional charge for a health certificate (required by law) of anywhere between $45.00 and $100.00. The amount depends upon what the veterinarian charges LPDR.
Transportation Help: If you see a dog that is a match for your family a LPDR volunteer
transport may be arranged to bring the dog to you. However, some of our dogs have distance restrictions and need to be adopted within a specific number of miles from their foster homes. We’ll inform you if the dog you’ve applied for is not able to travel long distances by car. A paid transport can also be arranged for any dog that does not have travel restrictions.
