Things to know about Bowie:

•   Needs a home in which someone is available to let him out for potty breaks regularly throughout the day to continue with his house training.

•   Is not a good fit for a home with shared walls including apartments and townhomes.

Bowie is an adorable 5-month-old dachshund/chihuahua mix (chiweenie). He has a short fawn-colored coat. He weighs just under 11 pounds and isn’t expected to get much bigger. Bowie is adorable, smart, fun-loving, and silly. He is a typical puppy full of energy. He loves to play and frolic about.

Bowie is working on house training and is making good progress. He’s still very young and there will be accidents. It will take a bit of time and patience. He will do best in a home in which at least one person is home most of the time to continue with house training by taking him out regularly for potty breaks. Bowie is crate trained. In his foster’s home he has a small puppy pen and prefers it to a closed in crate.

Bowie has not had any experience walking on leash, but will no doubt really enjoy exploring his neighborhood and meeting new human and dog friends. He likes spending time in his foster’s backyard exploring and playing. Due to his small size, he is always supervised closely. Bowie has only ridden in a car a couple of times. So far he hasn’t been an enthusiastic car passenger. He settles down and is happy to be riding along with his family.

Bowie loves all people including strangers and children. However, he is still teething and wants to chew on anything that comes close to his mouth including small hands. He along with the other dogs in his foster’s home. He is a vocal dog and is not a good fit for home with shared walls including apartments and townhouses.

When we asked his foster mom what she likes most about Bowie she said, “Bowie is a puppy with all the puppy energy and personality it's possible for a puppy to have!  He plays HARD, but then he also sleeps HARD!  He's a delight and we have loved having him in our house!”

The adoption fee for Bowie is $400.00 If the dog is adopted over a state line, there will be an additional charge for a health certificate (required by law) of anywhere between $45.00 and $100.00. The amount depends upon what the veterinarian charges LPDR.
