Cassie is a cute 2-year-old short-haired black, white, and tan terrier mix. She weighs
just under 8 pounds. She was rescued from a hoarding situation with a large number of
dachshunds, and even though she isn’t a dachshund, we just could'nt say no to that
beautiful face. Besides, she thinks she's a dachshund!
Cassie is house trained so long as she is let outside every 3-4 hours during the day,
before and after meals, and after naps. Her foster says that she can be allowed to roam
around the house when no one is home. However, she is crate trained and seems to be
more comfortable settling down and napping in her crate.
Cassie gets along with all sizes of dogs and cats and warms up quickly to new people
she meets. She has not had much experience walking on leash. Loud noises and cars
startle her and she should be leashed when ever she is outside to make sure that she
stays safe. Cassie is learning to enjoy the delights of the great outdoors and likes
exploring. With continued training, strolling the neighborhood will probably become one
of her favorite activities.
When we asked her foster dad what he likes most about Cassie, he said that Cassie is
a bright, alert little girl who loves being with her people and entertains herself with her
toys, tossing them in the air and catching them. She would love to have a forever home
for the holidays.
Cassie is currently living in Sugar Hill, GA with her foster dad John. For additional

Transportation Help: If you see a dog that is a match for your family a LPDR volunteer
transport may be arranged to bring the dog to you. However, some of our dogs have
distance restrictions and need to be adopted within a specific number of miles from their
foster homes. We’ll inform you if the dog you’ve applied for is not able to travel long
distances by car. A paid transport can also be arranged for any dog that does not have
travel restrictions.
Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by state
departments of agriculture that may include a short stay in quarantine. Complying with
these regulations is expensive for our rescue and some dogs going to New England
states may be charged an additional $175.00 to cover costs of compliance.
