Things to know about Kya:

• Needs a home in which someone is available to let her out for potty breaks regularly throughout the day.

Kya is a sweet, loving, and gentle 12-year-old dachshund with a short chocolate-colored coat. She weighs approximately 16 pounds. She is a very quiet and affectionate gal who loves to be beside her person all snuggled up under the covers or in the yard exploring the great outdoors.

Kya’s doesn’t require much exercise but does enjoy walks on her leash around the neighborhood and spending time exploring outside. When Kya meets another dog or person while out walking, she pays them no mind and keeps on moving. Kya does well in when riding in cars. Kya loves people. When strangers come to the door, she barks a couple of times and then stops. We don’t know if she likes the company of children. She gets along with the other dogs in her foster’s home. Kya is not a vocal dog. She will be fine living in a home with shared walls including apartments and townhouses. When we asked her foster mom what she likes most about Kya, she said that Kya is dedicated snuggle bug. Snuggling is her absolute favorite thing to do.

If the dog is adopted over a state line, there will be an additional charge for a health certificate (required by law) of anywhere between $45.00 and $100.00. The amount depends upon what the veterinarian charges LPDR.

Transportation Help: If you see a dog that is a match for your family a LPDR volunteer transport may be arranged to bring the dog to you. However, some of our dogs have distance restrictions and need to be adopted within a specific number of miles from their foster homes. We’ll inform you if the dog you’ve applied for is not able to travel long distances by car. A paid transport can also be arranged for any dog that does not have travel restrictions.
