Things to know about Dallas:

• Needs a home in which someone is available to let him out for potty breaks regularly throughout the day.
• Needs a home with no shared walls.

Dallas is a striking 5-year-old long haired dachshund. He has a beautiful light cream coat with taupe markings. His fur is luxurious, soft, and silky. He weighs approximately 11 pounds. He’s all love and joy. Nothing makes him happier than being held and cuddled like a furry baby. Dallas is a great sofa sitting buddy whether for watching TV or reading a book. He loves to be around people and the closer he can get the more contented he is.

Dallas is doing well with house training. When he first moved into his foster’s home, he had a few accidents inside and will use a pee pad if he has to. Dallas needs a home in which someone can be there to let him outside for potty breaks every 3 to 4 hours and before and after meals. Dallas loves car rides and leaves his cute nose prints all over the windows. 

Dallas walks very well on a leash. He stops along the way to smell the flowers and all the other wonderful scents only a dachshund would appreciate. He enjoys being outside wandering around in his fenced yard. After that he is ready to head back inside and hops up onto the couch for a snuggle under a blanket and perhaps a cuddle with a human. Everyone knows that dachshunds are world famous for their selective hearing, Dallas is different. He is very obedient and will come when his name is called. 

Dallas is timid and cautious of strangers. When strangers come to the door, he might bark and take time to settle down. In his foster ’ s house Dallas is gated into a small room when he cannot be supervised. When he is left alone, he can get vocal and is not a good candidate for a home with shared walls including apartments and townhouses.

When we asked his foster mom what she likes most about Dallas, she said, “There are so many wonderful things that I love about Dallas. People say that beauty is only skin deep but Dallas is beautiful inside and out. He has a tender soul with a big heart and all the love in the world to give a very lucky person”.

The adoption fee for Dallas is $325.00. If the dog is adopted over a state line, there will be an additional charge for a health certificate (required by law) of anywhere between $45.00 and $100.00. The amount depends upon what the veterinarian charges LPDR.

Transportation Help: If you see a dog that is a match for your family a LPDR volunteer transport may be arranged to bring the dog to you. However, some of our dogs have distance restrictions and need to be adopted within a specific number of miles from their foster homes. We ’ ll inform you if the dog you ’ ve applied for is not able to travel long distances by car. A paid transport can also be arranged for any dog that does not have travel restrictions.

Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by state departments of agriculture that may include a short stay in quarantine. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue and some dogs going to New England states may be charged an additional $175.00 to cover costs of compliance.
