Things to know about Eggnog. He is a very sweet, loving, and gentle guy. Nothing makes him happier than cuddling up with his person and taking a nice long nap. He would do best in a household in which at least one person stays home most of the time to take him out for potty breaks, a bit of exercise, and to shower him with love and affection. Eggnog is one of the Christmas Chiweenies that was rescued from a hoarding situation. House training is a work in progress. Eggnog is a smart dog and will catch on quickly with patience and consistency. He is crate trained, although he does not use a crate in his foster’s home.
Eggnog hasn’t had much experience going for walks. He is getting better at wearing a harness and being on leash. Due to his skittish behavior outdoors combined with his lack of leash skills, a securely fenced yard is required for Eggnog. He is also a flight risk.
Eggnog loves his people, but he does not love people coming in and out of the home, so if your house receives many frequent guests, Eggnog is not your man. It takes a while for him to get comfortable around strangers. His foster mom says that it took several weeks for him to warm up to her and her family. Since then, he has been coming out of his shell a bit more every day. His foster mom says the wait was so worth it. Eggnog is an incredibly sweet guy. He responds better to men but is good with women too. He is gentle with babies. Bouncy, noisy, and fast-moving children frighten him.
He gets along well with the resident miniature dachshund in his foster’s house and would enjoy having an easygoing doggie friend in his forever home. Eggnog is not a vocal dog and should be fine living in a home with shared walls including apartments and townhouses as long as he has a securely fenced yard.
When we asked his foster mom what she likes most about Eggnog, she said, “I love how Eggnog’s personality has developed since he came to Little Paws. It is just delightful to watch him learn how to play.”
Eggnog is currently begin fostered in Windsor, CT with his foster mom Maria. For additional
