Sparky is a chill older guy looking for a new home after his owner sadly passed away. He’s easygoing and calm and would do well with someone who has an appreciation for a laidback life. We don’t have an exact age, but the vet thinks he is over 12 years old. Sparky loves head and belly rubs but won’t ask for anything. He just needs someone to love on.    

Environment  

Sparky is house trained and crate trained, and just needs a potty break every few hours. His new home should either be on one level, or with someone who can carry him up and down any stairs he may encounter. He’s mostly quiet and has a low, unintrusive bark, so shared walls are ok. A yard is always great, but since he will most likely need escorting down the stairs he can cope without. When on walks he pulls on the leash, so some extra attention in that area may be required if he doesn’t have a yard to stretch his legs.   

Pets & People 

Sparky is friendly with all dogs he has met but likes to try to “share” their food, so he’s currently fed in a pen. This laidback lovebug is great with all people, big and small, and has no reaction to new people visiting. He’d be a great addition to really any home.    

Health 

You may have noticed that Sparky is a big boy, weighing in at 22 lbs. His vet doesn’t recommend weight loss in Sparky’s case due to him having two masses—one on his adrenal glands and one on his liver. He also has a heart murmur and dental disease that will need to be monitored. His foster family moisten his food to make it a little easier for him to eat.    

Location 

Sparky is currently living in Columbia, SC, with his foster mom Jennifer.
