Sugar is a 13 1/2-year-old girl weighing approximately 12-1/2 lbs. She really lives up to the name Sugar because she’s just so sweet. She loves to cuddle more than anything else and really wants to be your companion. Sadly, she was given up by her long-time owners because at her advanced age, she has occasional accidents. She’s looking for a loving and understanding home where she can enjoy her twilight years. 

Environment

Sugar is working on her house training, she has good days and bad, but if let out often (<2 hours) knows what to do. She doesn’t like to be closed into a crate and will tell you as much—probably because she wants to be by your side at all times. Sugar will do best in a home with a yard purely from a training standpoint, but doesn’t particularly like to wander out there. She’s mostly a quiet couch potato—aside from when new people arrive. She is a very happy girl, loves to go on walks, and walks very nicely on the leash.

Pets & People

Sugar is vocal with visitors, and barks for attention from her people for reassurance. Once she settles, she’ll return to her docile self. She’s pretty indifferent to children, not playful but not hostile. With dogs, she’s a snuggle bug. Currently in a home with two other small dogs and will cuddle with them nicely. She’s sweet and respectful to them, but again, not playful. Sugar loves treats and has no food aggression or guarding problems.

Location & Adoption

Sugar is available for adoption from Rockville, MD. She will ride on your lap but she is a little anxious in the car so we would like to limit adoptions to a few hours drive.
