Bailey is a five-year-old, playful girl. Weighing in at 14.5lbs, she’s a big snuggle bug who loves a lap. She can take time to warmup but once you have her trust, she’ll be your shadow. Bailey has IVDD. She’s currently well but her prior owner couldn’t afford ongoing care and was going to put her down. She’s looking for a new home that has snuggles and blankets waiting, and where she won’t need to do any steps.

Environment

Bailey will use a pee pad and we have been working on pottying outside and good progress has been made. Bailey loves her crate at night, and she’s been fine when left at home (in a confined area) with her foster’s dogs. On occasion she has had accidents in her crate. She doesn’t bark a lot, but her bark is loud, so we recommend a home without shared walls.  Bailey enjoys wandering in the yard and walks nicely on leash.

People & Pets

Bailey gets along with the other dogs in her foster home but was overwhelmed when she was introduced to a larger puppy. She is friendly with new people once she’s had a chance to meet them but will greet them vocally when they enter the home. Bailey would do best in a home without young children. Bailey loves her food and wastes no time if something yummy becomes available. If it drops—it’s gone! She would also “assist” other dogs with finishing their food if given the chance so best to do separate feedings. 

Health 

Bailey has had bouts of IVDD and has responded well to conservative treatment (crate rest and meds). She will need a home where she doesn’t have any steps or will be carried up and down. She's looking for an adopter with previous IVDD experience.
