Cola is a 7-month-old puppy who weighs in at 10lbs. He was surrendered with his sister Cocoa due to resource guarding and unsocialized behavior. Both pups are extremely beautiful, very tentative dogs. Cola is very loving and protective once you have gained his trust, but very fearful and anxious with strangers. He’s looking for his person to love, someone who has patience, care, and a routine. Cola will need continued training to gain confidence and learn to be a sociable pup.

Personality

Cola is very sweet and loving to his person. He will cover you in kisses, lean on you for pets, and come to you to be held. He needs socialization and basic training, and a home where he can be introduced to new people slowly. He is an anxious boy, so confidence-building activities would benefit him.  He initially was afraid of the collar—which he has now adapted to—but still needs to work on harness and leash walking.

Environment

Cola is just a puppy, so he isn’t at 100% with house training but does well with a routine and will get there soon. He is crate trained and does very well in a crate or pen. Cola is quite vocal and has a loud bark so a home with shared walls is not a great option.

Pets & People

At the moment, Cola is very fearful and aggressive with new people. He needs to be introduced slowly and patiently and build up confidence. When new people enter the house he barks and charges at them, so a busy home would be difficult to manage. He will need work in this area but he is young, smart, and capable of overcoming his fears. Cola seems to love other dogs. He has experience with dogs up to 30lbs, is fed with his sister with no issues, and takes treats alongside his foster mom's dogs.

Location

Cola is being fostered in Long Island, NY. Cola is great when crated in the car and looking forward to his next drive—hopefully to his new home!
