Reba Bio

Reba is a sweet playful puppy of just 5 months. She’s a red piebald wire-coat dachshund weighing 6.6lbs. She was surrendered at this young age because she was fearful with the larger dog in the family. She is a total sweetheart who loves to snuggle and play. We know there’s a perfect home with active owners who can give her all the play and love she needs.

Environment & Training

Reba is working on her house training, and learning what it means to play nicely with other dogs. She is still a puppy and has that puppy exuberance, so more socializing is needed with tolerant dogs so she can get used to finding her place in a group. She would be ok in a home with shared walls since she only really barks excitedly when she meets new people, or when set off by other dogs. Right now, Reba needs someone who can be home a lot so that she can get properly house-trained.

Pets & People

Reba loves to introduce herself to new people by barking, but once she calms down she does well. She loves walks and we suspect she would love to play in a backyard but she hasn’t been off-leash with her current fosters as she isn’t fenced in. With other dogs, as mentioned, she needs a little help knowing when to let up. The puppy energy will calm in time, and more socialization will definitely help her figure it out. She is very food motivated and would happily ‘help’ other dogs finish their food, so she’ll need monitoring if other dogs are slow eaters or protective.
