Max is a handsome 6-year-old, 15 lb black and tan smooth boy who has had two IVDD episodes so far in his short life. We are looking for a forever home with prior IVDD experience to give him the best chance of preventing further reoccurrences.

Environment

Max is house-trained and therefore is free to roam indoors. He does well crated for car travel but there is no need to crate him at home. Max will need a home with a fenced yard as it allows him to go at his own pace. Long walks have been discouraged due to his history of IVDD. When in the backyard he has chased rabbits and squirrels, and stalks toads — safe to say he has quite a prey drive — he also loves to dig so supervision is necessary. 

Pets & People

Max is a sociable little guy! He loves people and greets them exuberantly. He also adores other dogs and is currently living with four senior dachshunds. Max adores toys however he is very protective of his toys. This has not been a problem in foster care as his foster sisters and brothers are all seniors and could care less about his toys.

Health

Since coming to Little Paws Max has been neutered and has had a dental. He eats a prescription hypoallergenic diet and takes an allergy medication as needed. Max is doing incredibly well right now but he has had two IVDD episodes and therefore we are looking to find Max an experienced home that knows how to care for a dog with IVDD.
