Penelope is a 12-year-old teeny weenie at just 9.5lbs. She would love to be adopted with her buddy Daisy but can be adopted without her as well. She is cute, cuddly, and gentle in nature. She came into rescue after one of her humans developed allergies, and is looking for a warm blanket to burrow her tiny self under in her new home.
Environment
Penelope is mostly house trained but absolutely refuses to go outside in freezing cold or snow or rain. She understands pee pads on those yucky days. She is good to have free roam of the house with pee pads left out; she should not be left in a crate. Penelope likes to wander around the yard and does not require a fence if kept on a leash. She can walk short distances but in her senior years she doesn't need long walks anymore.
Penelope will need people who are home a decent amount as she misses her humans once they leave the house. She will bark while she awaits their return. She does fine when the human is in the house and on another level. But she knows once you have left! Generally Little P is a sweet, calm senior girl.
Pets & People
Penelope is fine with other dogs but prefers low key personalities. She came in with another, bigger dachshund (Daisy) and they get along well but also keep to themselves. Penelope is good with people, but she also likes to have her alone time. She greets new people with her loudest hello, but settles down eventually.
Location
Penelope is available for adoption from Saugus, MA and we are ideally looking to get her adopted within a couple of hours drive because she does not like being in the car. Please email fosternorth@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Penelope is $250. Senior citizen to senior dog adoptions are $100.
