Millie is a 6-year-old, black and tan weenie who weighs 11 lbs. She is smart, active, and a typical dachshund in every way. She came to Little Paws after her previous owner went into elder care. Millie has been the sole focus of her person for a long time, so she’d like a new person (probably a man) to dedicate herself to. If she can sleep in the big bed, even better!

Environment

Millie has previously been trained to use pee pads, but has been learning to go outside with her foster instead and it’s going well! She will need continued work on that but she is a fast learner and her new favorite word is ‘treat’.

Millie prefers a fenced yard because she loves to play with her toys outside and run zoomies.  She hasn’t been a flight risk so far, but safer keeping her contained as she is a curious girl. She goes to door when you pick up her leash. She might tug a bit, but walks well. She hasn’t shown any prey drive or digging behavior, but loves to chase birds and squirrels. She does like to chat but not a lot, so shared walls would be ok so long as the home has a yard. As she’s an active young girl she will need people around more often than not and to have some stimulation during the day. Millie is a playful sweetie who loves her toys and would adore having someone to play fetch with.

Millie wasn’t crate trained but she is learning to stay in a crate for short periods of time.

Pets & People

Millie tolerates other dogs as long as don’t come near her food. She does eat well from her bowl while other dogs eat out of theirs. Ideally she’d like a home where she’s the only dog.

Millies  loves  men, and just tolerates women. She has no issues with anybody but her new family should be aware she will be more attached to (and sometimes protective of) the men in the home. She is vocal with visiting adults, but shows no signs of retaliation. She’s untested with children.
