Chip is a smart, cute honorary dachshund. He’s actually a wee little 8lb, 7 year old yorkie who landed with Little Paws after his owner sadly went into hospice care. Despite having a rough time losing his human and his home, he still likes to play with his toys, and is a good companion. He’s looking for a family to keep company relaxing at home and on short walks.
Environment
Chip needs to be kept on a routine to stay in good house training habits, and he’s been marking due to his recent upheaval but didn’t do this in his previous home. He will use potty pads or belly bands if necessary, but he hates to be crated. Chip is very smart and trainable. He just needs someone that is patient and loving while he adjusts to a whole new life. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard as he can be reactive walking on the leash. A yard isn’t required as long as his new family are patient with his walking abilities. Shared walls are ok too as he’s mostly chill.
Pets & People
Chip needs someone that is home a lot, retired or works from home. He gets anxious when left behind. He likes visitors and will greet them vocally at first, but hasn’t met any children. He plays well with the other dogs in his foster home, but we are told he can be selective! He has no issues around guarding toys or food and is gentle with treats.
Health
You’ll probably want Chip to wear a belly band while he gets used to his new home.
