Overview
Lila is a sweet and affectionate companion. Though shy at first, with time and patience it’s amazing to watch her blossom. Lila is just 4 years old, and approx 14.5 lbs of pure dachshund. She’s been through a lot in her little life, and her capability to give people her love and trust is remarkable. She is the ultimate Velcro dog who absolutely loves cuddling, being petted, and showering you with kisses.
Foster Corinda says:
“She’s shown me how deeply love and patience can heal, making every moment with her incredibly rewarding.”
Environment
Lila would thrive in a moderately balanced lifestyle. Since she's recovering from IVDD surgery, it's important to find the right mix of physical activity and rest to support her healing. She enjoys her daily walks, but she would love a fenced yard to help with her continued potty training and to get gentle exercise. She doesn't bark much and would be perfect in a home with shared walls.
Lila is untested on crate training as she’s happiest sleeping next to her humans and will sleep for as long as you do. In the same vein, she enjoys companionship and would thrive in a situation where she's not left alone for long periods. Whilst it’s not necessary for someone to be home all the time, she would love people around more often, or who could take her to work.
Pets & People
Lila mostly does well with other dogs, regardless of size or age, but she may get defensive at times. If she feels protective over her humans or if they invade her personal space, she will let them know. She can be snappy when it comes to food and treats around other dogs. When she’s alone, she gets very excited but is much more relaxed.
At home, Lila is shy around strangers and may hide at first, but she'll gradually come out once she feels more comfortable. In public, she tends to get nervous and often wants to head back home.
Location
Lila is available for adoption from Doral, FL and gets a bit anxious in the car but still stays quiet in her car seat. She doesn't jump around or whine, making her a calm passenger despite her anxiety. Please email cory_wg@hotmail.com with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Lila is $375.00.
