Overview
Looking for a sweet senior snuggle buddy who still has plenty of love to give? Meet Penny Lane, a delightful dachshund who proves that age is just a number!
Penny Lane is a loving 14-year-old red dachshund with a frosty face that only adds to her distinguished charm. At just 8 pounds, this little lady has a heart full of love and a spirit that acts much younger than her years. She came to Little Paws after being abandoned, but she’s ready to find her forever family who will treasure her golden years.
Environment
Penny Lane loves nothing more than soaking up the sunshine outdoors! A fenced yard would be ideal for this sun-loving girl, but if you don’t have one, a penned area outdoors paired with regular walks would make her happy. Despite being a senior, she still loves to run and bark at squirrels—she’s definitely young at heart! She’s great on leash and loves her walks and playtime. In the home Penny Lane is mostly quiet and well-behaved, though she may bark for a few minutes when first left alone she settles down quickly. She knows to potty outside with regular breaks, and will use a pee pad if available. She does well in the car but can be a bit of a wriggler, so a carrier might be best for longer trips.
Pets & People
Penny Lane is wonderful with everyone she meets! She’s fantastic with people and gets along beautifully with other dogs, showing zero aggression. When strangers come to visit, she may bark initially, but it’s purely out of excitement that a new person has entered her life and wants to be petted. She’s shown herself to be super friendly and social. This little sweetheart’s favorite thing is to curl up in your lap or drape herself around your shoulders on the back of the sofa. She’s a real snuggler who loves to be with her people. She would do best with someone home often and a companion dog.
Health
Penny Lane has lost most of her teeth, so she’ll need soft food for the rest of her life—but the good news is she eats anything you put in front of her! This sweet girl has no other medical needs and is ready to enjoy her golden years with a loving family.
