Hero is a 1 1/2 year old dachshund mix.  When Hero came to us, it seemed like he had lived most of his young life neglected in someone's backyard. His neck was badly cut from an embedded collar, and he seemed nervous to be in the house. However, he's made so much progress since being in a loving home. Initially, he wouldn't go outside unless someone stood in the yard with him. Now, he's enjoying the sunlight while he plays with his foster friends and hops around like a little bunny! Even the scar around his neck is healing and barely noticeable. Hero is still young, and has a lot of energy. He would do best in a home with another dog he can play with. He gets along very well with most dogs  he meets. He loves children, especially active, school aged children! When he's not playing with his squeaky toys, Hero loves a warm lap to lay on. He makes a great cuddle-bug, and likes to recline against your arm. Hero is a loving and optimistic dog. Despite the condition he was in when he came to the rescue, he's just as happy as can be. He's very high-energy, curious, and loves a good walk or to play fetch! If you do not have a fenced yard, it would be good to walk him several times a day.
