Lexie is a beauty! The vet estimates her to be between 5-8 years of age but with all her spunk we definitely can’t imagine she would be as old as 8. Although she’s a black & tan dachshund, we refer to her as being black & white! She has a white muzzle and looks to be wearing white front paw socks. She was a rescue from a high kill shelter in North Carolina where she was pulled just in the nick of time with her sister Tonic and 3 other mates. Lexie is a spunky girl who likes her independence and at the same time is always up for a belly rub or a nose kiss. She loves to do the “back dance”. With a little extra weight (down 12 oz 8/27/13), it feels so good to get those spots she just can’t reach. Lexie would do best in a home with older, respectful kids and NO CATS. She would do well in a home with her sister Tonic (who is also available for adoption), as the only pet, or with other doggy mates about her same size. She thinks she’s the Queen Bee! She is housebroken and will give you the stare down if she’s ready to go out. She does great on a schedule. She would do well in active home and would love a fenced yard. Leash walks would also be welcomed. Lexie is crate trained, and will even get in on her own for a nap. She will however bark when initially crated and even more so if you crate her and she can still see you, as if she is saying, “How Rude!” She prefers her dog bed with a cozy blanket, or even a nice corner of the couch. TRANSPORTATION HELP!

If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
