Bella is a female red long haired dachshund. She was rescued from a high kill shelter in South Carolina after her owner turned her in saying she was passing blood.  Bella just needed to be fed a good dog food and not human food. Her foster mom has not seen any signs of passing blood since being on dog food.  Bella is a very friendly girl and gets along with other dogs and people.  She loves attention!  She gets really excited when someone shows her attention, love and affection.  Bella is an escape artist so she would do best in a home that has a fenced in yard with all escape routes secure or someone that plans to walk her on a leash often.  If we open the front door to visitors she will try to escape then too, just to explore.   She is housebroken but can have an accident if she is not let out.  Bella is crate trained and often goes there to sleep, but I haven’t met a dachshund yet that would not prefer to sleep in the big bed. She would much rather sleep in the big bed.  She is not a typical dachshund because she doesn’t want to burrow under the covers. As a matter of fact, if we try to cover her up, she quickly escapes the covers. If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption.  LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
