My name is Sonny and I am a sweet 6 year old Dachshund looking for my forever home. You see, I was raised in a backyard puppy mill along with 150 other dogs. I lived in a cage outside every day for my first 6 years until the sirens came and we were all moved to a high-kill shelter in Greenville, SC. I was sick, malnourished, Heart Worm positive and had hip problems. No one wanted me… but then I was rescued by Little Paws Rescue and I moved in with my foster family.

I thought my life was going to be so great but after 2 days in a home with love, a real bed and lots of delicious food, I became very, very sick. The Doctor said I had full blown pneumonia and massive fluid in my lungs and had to leave my new foster home to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks on an IV. No one thought I would survive, but I am a fighter and now that I know what it feels like to be loved and cared for, I have too much to live for.  When I got better, I started my heartworm treatment and after undergoing my month long treatment I will only require a monthly dose of Heartguard for at least a year and then after a year I can be re-tested by the guy in the white jacket. I'm even told that LPDR will cover the cost of the Heartguard and the one year HW re-check. Wow, what great people.

My foster Mom and Dad love me so much as do my doggie sisters Bella and Fergie. I am afraid of the cats and sometimes try to pick fights with them but Mom says that is not nice and thinks I will probably do better in a cat-free home. I love everyone I meet and give out kisses freely. I am leashed trained and almost potty trained but still have accidents if not taken out frequently. I would really love to find a home where I won't be left alone too much because I always want to be near my people. Did I tell you that I dance for my breakfast and dinner? I make Foster Mommy laugh every day with my silly dancing and prancing and twirling.

Please won’t you bring me home to your family? I am a total love bug who won’t take up much space and just wants a lap to sit on and a warm bed to sleep in.
