Hi, I’m Ginger.  I thought my time was up when I found myself in that scary place called a shelter, but fortunately some really nice people rescued me.  They say I’m about 8 years old – that must be pretty young for a Dachshund because I don’t feel old.  I dance for treats!  I can’t help it – I get excited and run in circles for breakfast and dinner, too!

Sometimes I follow my foster parents around and sit in their laps whenever I get the chance.  It feels so good when they scratch behind my ears or give me belly rubs!  There are two other Dachshunds here who are just my size and I enjoy their company. We have tons of fun playing together and when it’s time to settle down, we get to burrow under warm, cozy blankets.  My foster parents even let us sleep with them – it’s so much better than being alone!

My foster parents say I have a beautiful coat and that I’m a very good girl.  I’m house-trained and crate-trained.  I know how to walk on leash and I also enjoy exploring the fenced-in yard here.  The vet says I have a slight case of cataracts and I’m missing a few teeth, but I don’t let that slow me down.  I never have any trouble finding my way around or enjoying my second chance at life!

As much as I love my foster family, I sure would like to have a family I could call my own.  If you are looking for a low-maintenance little dog with plenty of love to give, you and I just might be made for each other!

CT & RI RESIDENTS  – At this time we are not registered with these states and are unable to adopt to residents.  The process to register is lengthy and will take some time.  We are currently working on this process

TRANSPORTATION HELP!

If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption.  LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
