Adoption Fee:
$250.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law). Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.
Sabine is a Beagle full of full of cuteness in a Dachshund size package! What a wonderful girl she is! Sabine spent her life in a breeder cage until Cinco de Mayo. She and 8 of her kennel mates were rescued into love and a terrific future.
What a wonderful sight it was to see them all running on the grass together and learning to play. Sabine went to the dentist for the first time and lost a few teeth, so she eats soft foods now, but she has gotten her appetite for that and learned the word “treat”. She is living with two Dachshunds and a Labrador Retriever and holding her own at playtime now. She has learned how to be cuddled and like it! She is learning to be housebroken and doing better than anyone expected.
Right now she is answering to the name “Sadie”, and she is so curious about everything. She learned how to climb the steps but didn’t think about how to get down. Poor baby, she let us know she knew the “Beagle Bay” – but that did not stop her from doing it again in a few minutes and this time she made it all the way down all by herself!! She pranced around. She has spent the last three weeks learning! She now knows about Pup-a-Roni treats, boiled chicken breast, bones filled with frozen peanut butter, mmmm good! Smelly dog sock toys (they are great in her crate at night). She is definitely a quiet Southern Lady!
Sabine/Sadie will make someone a wonderful companion. With or without another dog in the household she will be just fine. We are hoping she gets a home with someone ready to give her a lot of love and attention. She has almost six years of crate time behind her – now she needs some love and fresh air. We have a fence and a back door that she can open and go out at will. She loves it. Someone will need to help her learn to be on a leash. We want to let her have all the freedom we can while we have her.
Are you full of love to give? Remember – Love is the ONLY thing you can give and give and give and never find the bottom of the bag! The more you give – the more you have! Can you give a lot to this precious girl?
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
Sabine/Sadie would like to add a message of her own!!
“I heard what was written and it is all fine, BUT … I decided I did not like that idea of soft food all the time, so this morning I decided to try out Bubba’s breakfast. He was OK with that. He gets a mix of kibble and soft food. It was GOOD and I had NO problem chewing it! I am just fine. All soft food is for an OLD dog, not me!
… and while I have the floor, I would like to put in my wishes for my dream home:
~~ I would just LOVE to have my very own little girl! About ten or eleven would be perfect (boys usually want a lot more … ?? I would like a cuddly girl who wants to play, but cuddle a lot – I am just a little girl myself
~~ So far I have not been around a lot of people so I don’t know what it would be like. I am kind of liking getting used to this wonderful, new life slowly – so I am NOT looking to be in the middle of a lot noise and confusion.
That’s all – I don’t want much – just a whole lot of love and I will give a lot in return, I promise.
Escape
By Sadie Bear
I was tired of my cage, I’d been locked in too long
Like a worn-out recording of a favorite song
So while I lay there sleepin', I dreamed of a loving home
And when no one was lookin, I planned my escape
'If you like loves and kisses, getting caught in a hug
If you are into yoga, I can teach downward dog
If you like sunbathing at highnoon in the warmth of the sun
I'm the pup that you've looked for adopt me and escape'
So I wait with high hopes for a nice loving home
I know you’re out there somewhere, with a nice comfy couch
I give loving cuddles but snore when I sleep
If you don’t mind the noise, let’s grab a hammock and escape
'If you like loves and kisses, getting caught in a hug
If you are into yoga, I can teach downward dog
If you like sunbathing at highnoon in the warmth of the sun
I'm the pup that you've looked for adopt me and escape'
