Adoption Fee:  $150 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law). Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.  

S’Mores is an adorable little lady who looks just like her name!  She has brown graham cracker feet, a dark chocolate (grey and black) body and a marshmallow-colored face!  Her coloring is unique and beautiful!  S’Mores loves nothing more than to be near her people and to be part of all the action, and she cries when she feels isolated from her people!  She is blind, but we believe she can see some shadows and large objects.  She is a master at learning her environment and now finds her ramp to go outside by herself and then lets herself back in.  She is housetrained and fabulous at going outside, immediately taking care of her business and coming back in.  She loves squeaky toys and carries them around trying to find a perfect hiding spot for them!  She is an older lady who likes her rest, but she loves being in a lap and loves having someone talk to her while she sits in their lap.  She will turn to face whoever is talking and looks up at them with complete focus.  She is excellent with kids, but needs them to approach her nicely and without startling her.  She learns voices very quickly and will gleefully trot towards her favorite people when she hears them!  Because of her eyesight, it is very important that her adoptive home be a single level or easily adapted to keep her safely on a single level (without making her feel separated from her family).  If she does need to navigate one or two steps, she is a pro at using ramps built for her once she learns where they are.  S’Mores is the perfect mix of dachshund playful and senior couch potato.  She will make an amazing addition to a lucky family, couple or single person looking for a best friend!

If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption.  LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
