Adoption Fee:  $250.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.

Acer is a happy and healthy 2.5 year old pup! He is a very active little boy that loves to play inside or outside! And also LOVES to curl up in your lap for some cuddles and love.

Acer’s story… He is an owner surrender and came from a family (mom, dad, and a little boy) that has fallen on hard times. Acer had a good start in life, he came to his family as a puppy, was an inside dog, had 30 acres to play on and even had his very own little boy to care for him. Hard times fell when the dad left… mom and the little boy were unable to keep their home and were forced to downsize to a tiny apartment in town that only allowed outside animals. Acer had to be tied up/tethered outside. With winter coming, the mom knew she had to do something, it wouldn’t be right to keep Acer tied up outside in the cold with rain, sleet, snow, etc. She did only what she could do… call a rescue for help. Acer is now with his foster momma… safe, warm, and inside. Acer does well with all dogs (he has 4 foster brothers & 1 foster sister). I am not sure about cats, as I do not have any! He is very friendly, and not a dominate dog. He would do better in a home with other dogs close to his age as he is active and loves to play! Acer also loves any attention that he can get! I think he has been without that extra attention for a while and so tends to soak up all that he can get!! Acer is an alerter… he does bark when someone pulls up, knocks at the door, or if any of the other dogs bark… he will bark right along with them! And he does have a loud bark!! Since he is so active, I think he would do best with an active family… either one with kids (4 years old & up) or an active person that likes to hike, walk, or jog (or any other outside activity). I have a 4 year old grandson that is over every weekend, Acer loves to follow him around, run with him, etc. My grandson is also able to walk Acer on the leash, but he is still learning leash etiquette. Acer has been doing well with housetraining/bathroom habits, but I do have a doggie door that he can access during the day while I am at work and I take him out frequently when I am at home all day. He also does well with sleeping in a crate at night (in the same room with me) or sleeping in the big bed.

Due to a sensitive digestive/intestinal tract, Acer will need to be kept on a corn free diet. There are lots of dog foods available out there that are limited ingredient (Blue Buffalo Basic, Nutro/Natural Choice, Wellness Simple, Natural Balance, or anything with Sweet Potatoes and no corn), he’s not picky!! His foster mom would be happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have! Please feel free to email or call with any questions that you may have!

Acer would love to have his very own person again and a fenced back yard to play in or acreage to roam! He tries hard to please and is friendly to anyone he meets, whether they are human or another pup! Please feel free to email me with any questions that you may have!

RI RESIDENTS – At this time we are not registered with this state and are unable to adopt to residents.  The process to register is lengthy and will take some time.  We are currently working on this process TRANSPORTATION HELP! If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption.  LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
