Adoption Fee:  $175.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.

Meet Lucy! A beautiful girl with the most expressive eyes, Lucy was recently surrendered by an elderly owner who was no longer able to care for her properly. A former puppy mill survivor who was adopted at the age of 3, she is in perfect health and acts MUCH younger than her 10 years! Don’t let her age fool you – she can and does outrun much younger dogs!

Lucy has recently lost a little excess weight and she loves to run around a fenced back yard and take long walks (she walks perfectly on a leash). She also loves going for rides in the car! Like many dachshunds, Lucy's paws bend outwards a bit.  They don't bother her and she's given a little cosequin to keep her joints health, however, it might cause a little arthritis in her ankles later.

Lucy is completely housebroken and will let you know when she needs to go outside. She is spayed and up to date on her shots.

While Lucy tolerates other dogs, she would do best as an “only child,” as she was the center of her former owner’s attention. She loves to cuddle and have her ears scratched. She will spend some time in the Big Bed, but prefers to sleep curled up in her own bed right next to you.

Lucy would do best in a low-key, relaxed environment. No small children please.

Lucy is a happy, healthy, well-adjusted little girl who will be a wonderful, loving forever family member!
