Adoption Fee:  $275.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.

Annie did not have a good start in life. She was a breeding dog and surrendered by the backyard breeder. She was not socialized. Because of this she does have a few issues that we are working on.

She is mostly a super happy girl who runs around at lightening speed. She does not sleep in the big bed and only likes toys when she is trying to get attention. She does enjoy a walk but doesn't go crazy when you get the leash or anything like that. However, she is fearful of strangers and men and would do well in a home with a single female. Annie is also startled by sudden loud noises and she can react towards whoever is around when this happens by cornering them. A firm “no” when she is doing this works and you can get her back in her crate but DO NOT TOUCH her as she may nip!

She will bond very nicely with her new mom and she does love all animals and kids but she must be introduced slowly to any new people including kids. She was fine here with my daughter and I within 24 hours. She also loves to give Molly and I kisses...it is not safe to speak when you are holding her as you will get a nice French kiss out of that deal!! Another cute thing is that she climbs your legs like a monkey, literally uses both her front and back legs and climbs your leg!! Never seen (or felt) anything like it before, LOL.

She would do well with an experienced doxie person and older kids who will respect her nervous behavior and give her the time she needs to adjust.

If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption.  LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
