Adoption Fee:  $275.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.

Hi! I'm Candy!  I'm told that I am as sweet as my name! When you meet me, you will fall in love at first site! I am a young chiweenie girl that came from a west Texas shelter and was owner surrendered. My foster mom does not understand how anyone could abandon especially ME in a shelter.  I am such a good girl!  I don't know why, but I am terrified at the site of a leash.  Maybe I could be trained by a gentle professional to walk on a leash.  Because I won't walk on a leash, I need to have a secured yard when I go out so that I am safe.  I am house trained, but once in a while I have an accident.  I am shy and timid when I meet new people, but I will warm up to you in a short while.  I love watching animals on TV with my foster mom, and I even chase after them barking every step when it looks like they ran into our house.  It's hilarious!

Don't be fooled by my size because I have big dog syndrome and I will keep you safe.  You won't have to share your bed with me because I love my own bed, right next to yours.  I don't play with toys; they are for babies! I enjoy being lazy, cuddling with my favorite people and giving lots of kisses.  I am a great eater (gobble my meals), and I like to wear sweaters, too! You will enjoy rubbing my soft fur as much as I enjoy it!  I am looking for the loving home that I deserve: where I will be spoiled with love and never have to spend another night without a family. I would be happy if I was the only dog OR had fur siblings. If you want a perfect companion, I'm the girl for you!

TRANSPORTATION HELP! If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption.  LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
