Adoption Fee:  $275.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.

Dixie is a very beautiful standard dachshund. Her loyalty to her human is beyond compare. She believes she is defender of her castle so when people come to your house make sure they approach with caution. Once she sees they are "approved" and welcomed by you then all is right in her world.

Dixie does fine with children but they still need to be respectful. She has been around children as young as 1.5 years old and is fine. She LOVES her bones. She will fight over a bone with another dog but other than that she has been good with any other dogs that come into our house. If her new owner already has a female dog, she will be fine. She has just been more dominant with any females that I fostered since she has been here. She loves to play and would be great with another younger dog that also likes to play or an owner that enjoys training to fetch, do rope tugs, etc.

She is also fine with cats. My cat thinks he is a dog so Jackson loves to antagonize the dogs at night to get them to chase him. Yes, it can make for a scene out of the circus at times.

Dixie is also crate trained. She will go in there easily because she always gets a treat. She will sleep in there but much prefers sleeping in the big bed. She will also just sit on your lap or beside you and be s couch potato. She is house trained as long as let out frequently.

Dixie LOVES to sleep in the big bed, is also crate trained (with treats). Dixie is good on leash. She would do well as an only dog or most likely male dogs. She likes men and women but will be protective when people come to her house. Dixie was heartworm positive but has finished her treatment.
