Adoption Fee: $275.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law). Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.
Princess Buttercup is a 10 pound bundle of pure adorableness! With the most expressive eyes you’ve ever seen, she will worm her way into your heart just as easily as she worms her way between you and your laptop when she sees that you lap is unavailable! Buttercup came into rescue when her human passed away, and she spent time at a shelter and then in a boarding facility before she came to Little Paws Dachshund Rescue. Probably because of these traumas, she becomes extremely attached to her primary caregiver and wants to be with “her” human all the time. She is happiest when she is sitting on her human. But, Buttercup doesn’t just sit in your lap; her whole body sort of melts into yours as she tries to create as many points of contact as possible! She doesn’t like to share her human’s lap with other dogs OR laptops (she will actively nudge your hands away from anything other than petting her!). However, she does enjoy having other doggy playmates. Her ideal home will have a family member that is home with her most of the time and likes a lap companion. A larger dog that won’t compete with her for the lap might make a good playmate. Buttercup’s deep attachment to “her” human is wonderful, but it can also cause her to growl and become upset when she feels that her human may be threatened. Children in the home should be older and very knowledgeable about dogs and their cues (when they are upset, etc.). Buttercup is house-trained and crate-trained, and she is 2 years old.
