Adoption Fee: $250.00 + $50.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law). Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.
Meet Stella. She's a beautiful 7-year-old dachshund who was left by her family in a night drop box at a Maryland shelter. Stella was adopted quickly from the shelter because she has a wonderful temperament, but her adopter quickly realized that Stella needed medical attention, which she knew she couldn’t afford, so she reached out to Little Paws. We quickly discovered that Stella had a huge bladder stone, which filled her entire bladder. Surgery was performed immediately. Thank goodness her adopter did what was best for Stella and she is now recovering from her surgery and not looking back. She has been moved to a foster home and every day she becomes more animated. Stella loves attention and is good with her new foster siblings (a beagle, a doxie and a cat). She is eating well and enjoying life and waiting for that special someone to open their home to her.
RI RESIDENTS – At this time we are not registered with this state and are unable to adopt to residents. The process to register is lengthy and will take some time. We are currently working on this process TRANSPORTATION HELP! If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
