Adoption Fee:  $275.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.

PShe is a beautiful fawn color with brown dapple spots. She has the long body of a dachshund but with Chihuahua legs. Her ears fold or flop depending on her mood. Folded ears are standard but if you are eating or in the kitchen the floppy ears are brought out for your enjoyment.

I crate Babette when I leave the house—I have 5 other dogs and I regularly divide new ones up to make sure everyone is practicing their manners. Generally, Babette would be fine on her own. She is not a chewer and has never even considered picking up a stray sock or shoe. She is very well mannered.

We are working on housetraining and she is a stellar student. As long as I take her out regularly she doesn’t have accidents in the house. If I forget, she may potty on a pee pad. Before I got Babby I am pretty sure she was a yard dog, so housetraining is something new to her. I do have a fenced back yard and a dog door and she does use the dog door regularly. I’m just not sure she always pottys when she is out on her own or busy looking at squirrels.

Babette has food and seasonal allergies. She needs to be on a diet of a fish and potato kibble, wet food, and treats. She also has been taking benadryl 3xs a day to help control runny eyes and drippy nose.

She loves bones to chew on but isn’t a big fan of stuffed animals or balls. What she likes the most is my lap.

She can be a tiny bit jealous of other dogs if she has your full attention. But she is learning that she must share her people--at least sometimes. A quick, ‘no’ is all Babby needs to hear if she fusses at another dog. She will listen raptly and not want you the least bit upset with her.

Other than dogs I also have 4 cats. Babby has a tiny bit of curiosity about the kitties but not enough to chase or annoy them. My cats are very dog savvy and they may have put her in her place when I didn’t notice.

Her one vice is that she is a door charger. If anyone leaves the house Babby thinks she must be right there behind them. We are training her to sit and stay so she doesn’t dart out to the front yard where there is no fence. She is fast, so pay attention.

This baby is truly a gem.
