How do you spell “happy dog”? S-A-S-H-A!  Hi, my name is Sasha and I am a gorgeous, sweet, friendly and energetic 7 year old long haired red Dachshund with enough energy and personality for 2 or 3 dogs.  I love to be where you are, will follow and seek you out, and absolutely love belly rubs.  If you can’t find me…look down at your feet!  My foster mom calls me a Swiffer, because I seem to pick up a few leaves and grass clipping when I am outside. I tell her this is part of the “long haired Dachshund magic”.  She also calls me “part Dachshund…part fire cracker…part jack rabbit” due to my energy and positive outlook on life. I have clear bright eyes and tiny clean and white healthy teeth. I am a smart pup and came to my foster home already knowing commands, and am learning new ones from my foster mom.  I have a good memory and remember these new commands after only hearing them once or twice.  I am crate trained and will get into the crate when told to, but I don’t like being in the crate.  I am housebroken. I know how to use pee pads (for those extra-long times that you are away), dog steps, dog ramp and the doggie door (even one with two flaps).  I have no problem with stairs in the house or on the porch or deck.  I like a soft dog bed, and will find the pillow in your bed.  Let’s talk maintenance; as a long haired Dacshie, I require baths to clean my “Swiffer hairs” or “feathers”, as I am quite low to the ground. As for brushing, I need to be brushed a few times a week…maybe when we are on the couch relaxing together (just an idea)...to get any loose hairs out of my lovely coat. If I don’t get brushed or groomed, my lovely red locks will get knotted and matted, and will have to be cut out…not fun!  I am a social girl, and I think I would like a home with a companion dog(s) so we can play, because like I said, I am an energetic social pup, and I don’t want to be lonely when my new family leaves to go to work, school or an outing.  I think I would like children, but not those who want to wrestle with me, as I am petite; I’m a cuddler not a wrestler!  I don’t know how I am with cats, so please be patient with me if you have cats; these cats may be bigger than I am!  I take belly rubs for free and I love, love, love my walks. When I hear the car keys, see the leash being taken off the hook or see my foster Mom walking to the door, I am there before she is. Because I am so small and fast, I am through the dog door and out in the garden before she can say “stay!”…humans are funny.  I wiggle, shimmy, shake and dance sideways when I get excited which makes my foster Mom laugh, which makes me happy.  I get very excited at meal time, and will stand on my back legs with excitement.  My foster mom says I am very fast, so please make sure the door or gate to the road is secured properly, as I may run out with my excitement of the thought of a walk.  I L-O-V-E hearing my name said out loud, and when I hear my name “Sasha, Sasha, Sasha”, I get excited and start my wiggle shimmy shimmy shake sideways dance that only a dog lover would understand.  I also like my downtime, and can relax and be quiet with my family.  My foster Mom tells me I am the only Dachshund she knows who likes the rain, and will go outside when it’s raining and roll around in the grass!!  I am not a big barker, but will bark my little bark when I hear or see something that I think you should know about; my foster mom tells me I am doing my job and says “good pup”.  My foster Mom says I am a very happy pup, with a very positive demeanor, a smile on my expressive face, bright eyes and my tail is always wagging. If you think you might be needing a happy, energetic, healthy, social dog that will bring even more happiness into your life, who has a positive outlook on life, then I’m your dog.
