Things to know about Duckie:
•
To keep Duckie’s GI tract balanced, it is recommended that she stays on an antibiotic.
•
Duckie will need to stay on a strict diet plan. Recommending a home with no small/young children.
•
Duckie has not been around cats and we do not know how she will react.
Duckie is an incredibly cute long haired, black and tan chiweenie. She is 4 years old and weighs between 10 and 12 pounds. She was surrendered to rescue through no fault of her own. Her family could no longer give her the care she needs. Duckie needs to be kept on a strict low fat intestinal diet to keep her GI system healthy. It is also recommended that she stay on an antibiotic to help keep her GI tract balanced. Absolutely no eating out of the bowls of other dogs and no human food or treats for her. Therefore we are recommending that Duckie goes to a home with no small/young children.
Apart from making sure that Duckie stays on her diet, she is a very easy and low maintenance snuggle bug. She’s very shy around other dogs, human adults, and children until she gets to know them. She does not show any aggression. Instead, she barks and seeks protection from someone she trusts. She would rather forego doggie meetups and dog parks. We do not know how Duckie feels about cats.
Duckie would do well in almost any household. She is crate trained and can be left at home alone in her crate. She has been doing well with her house training. But, like many dachshunds, she is not fond of going out in the rain. Duckie loves to be outside in the backyard sniffing around for interesting things. However, she would be equally happy living in a home without a yard. She enjoys going out for rides in the car.
Duckie’s foster dad says that she has a wonderful personality. She’s adorable, affectionate, and funny. She doesn’t need a lot of activity or exercise and doesn’t bark excessively. She would make a fabulous companion for just about anyone.

Transportation Help: If you see a furbaby that is a match for your family, don't let distance stand in your way of adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport or refer you to a paid transport.
Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by state departments of agriculture that may include a short stay in quarantine. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue and some dogs going to New England states may be charged an additional $175.00 to cover costs of compliance.
